The flagship chipsets for 2025 have been unveiled, featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek's Dimensity 9400. While the majority of smartphones utilizing these advanced processors are expected to launch in 2025, two models are already showcasing their capabilities: the Realme GT7 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the vivo X200 Pro powered by the Dimensity 9400.
The Dimensity 9400 is built on an octa-core architecture, comprising 1 core at 3.63 GHz Cortex-X925, 3 cores at 3.3 GHz Cortex-X4, and 4 cores at 2.4 GHz Cortex-A720, paired with an Immortalis-G925 GPU.
Conversely, the Snapdragon 8 Elite features custom-designed Oryon cores, including 2 cores clocked at 4.20 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L and 6 cores at 3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M. This configuration presents a notable contrast to the Dimensity's CPU clusters, with higher clock speeds. Additionally, the Adreno 830 GPU promises significant improvements over its predecessor.
In terms of CPU performance, the Snapdragon 8 Elite excels in both single-core and multi-core tasks. According to Geekbench 6, it surpasses the Dimensity 9400 by 10% in multi-core performance and by 15% in single-threaded tasks. However, in combined benchmarks like AnTuTu 10, the Dimensity 9400 slightly outperforms Qualcomm's chipset by 6%. It is important to note that these performance differences are generally minimal in practical applications.
