The report indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will incorporate the Galaxy Fold Special Edition panels, which include an 8-inch foldable display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. Additionally, the clamshell model, Galaxy Z Flip 7, is expected to see enhancements as well, with a 6.85-inch foldable screen (increased from 6.7 inches) and a 4-inch cover display (up from 3.4 inches).
The information is a continuation of an analysis indicating that Samsung experienced sales of the Flip6 that were slower than anticipated during the third quarter of 2024. Shipments of panels have decreased by 10% compared to the previous year, as the product did not attract significant interest from consumers in the United States and China. The Flip continues to enjoy popularity primarily in Europe and Korea.
According to DSCC, the foldable panel market may experience a slowdown in 2025; however, this development is not inherently negative. It is anticipated that the market will regain momentum in 2026 following the launch of Apple's inaugural foldable smartphone, which is projected to drive "significant growth" within the foldable sector. Consequently, the entire year is expected to set a new record for this market segment.
