Recently, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF Securities International, suggested that the iPhone 18 lineup will feature advanced camera technology that could greatly enhance image quality, including a variable aperture system.
In a post on Medium, Kuo reiterated his forecast for the iPhone 18 Pro, emphasizing that it will likely be the first Apple device to feature a variable aperture camera. He noted that BE Semiconductor (BESI) is responsible for supplying the assembly equipment necessary for the aperture blades, which are essential for this enhancement. This innovation would allow users to control the light intake, similar to the DSLR-style aperture control found in Android devices like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Honor Magic 7 Pro, as well as Samsung's earlier implementation in the Galaxy S9 series.
