Huawei launched the Mate 70 series last week and commenced pre-orders for the models shortly thereafter. The lineup, which includes the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design, is available for purchase through its official store, Vmall, as well as various third-party retailers. Currently, the Mate 70 series has garnered over 6.7 million reservations in China.

The Kirin 9020 chipset, developed by Huawei, powers the Mate 70 devices and may pose a significant manufacturing challenge. This chip exemplifies the pinnacle of China's mobile technology independent of U.S. influence, featuring an 8-core, 12-thread CPU with one core at 2.5 GHz, three cores at 2.15 GHz, and four cores at 1.6 GHz, alongside a GPU operating at 840 MHz. While the Kirin 9020 lags behind the latest western 3nm flagship chips, it reportedly delivers approximately 30% improved performance compared to its predecessor, the Kirin 9010.

The Mate 70 features a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. In contrast, the Mate 70 Pro offers a larger 6.9-inch screen while maintaining the same FHD+ resolution and variable refresh rate capabilities.

The base model Mate 70 is priced at CNY5,499, while the Mate 70 Pro is available for CNY6,499. The Mate 70 Pro+ has a starting price of CNY8,499, and the premium Mate 70 RS Ultimate Edition begins at a substantial CNY11,999.
